Source Unknown; 3 Oct 2002 Jeff Johnston of California City, born May 16, 1957, in Bakersfield, California, passed away on September 27, 2002 in Bakersfield of complications from brain cancer. Jeff grew up in Tehachapi, California where he played high school football. He joined the United States Air Force in 1976 and was stationed at Edwards AFB and Shemya AFB where he became a sergeant before leaving in 1980. He and his wife Tammy, moved to California City, California in 1984 where he worked for Antelope Valley Distributing for 16 years. Jeff was also involved in the Little Miss California City and Miss California City pageants for the past 2 years known as the Music Man which he enjoyed very much. They were all his girls. He was predeceased by his father Clyde Johnston in 1997. He is survived by his wife Tammy of 24 years, his mother, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, father-in-law and stepmother, sister-in-law and her husband, many nieces and nephews and many other family and friends and especially his second family, the Warrens, whom he enjoyed every day being a part of their lives. They kept him young. Memorial services were held at Stickel Mortuary in Mojave on October 1, 2002, at 4 p.m. We will all miss his great smile, warm hugs and his silly jokes. Go Raiders!
