Daily Press, Hesperia Star & Desert Dispatch; March 04, 2009 Phil Kahn, born July 4, 1935, whose love of the desert brought him to Apple Valley in 2001, passed away the evening of Feb. 26, 2009. Phil was originally from New York. He fulfilled his dream of living in California when he moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1983. There he met his wife Phyllis and together they began a new life in Apple Valley. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Tolmas-Kahn; his sons, Mitch and Scott; daughter, Fran; sister, Arlene Bassett; stepdaughters, Robin, Jody and Donna; daughters-in-law, Anita and Niki; sons-in-law, Gary and Jim; and his amazing grandchildren Dale, Carly, Ashli, Brennan, Matthew, Melissa, Brandon, Spencer, Liam, Jaden and Chloe. Phil was a loving father, a devoted husband and a caring friend. He will remain close in our thoughts and hearts and will be missed by all who knew him.
