Source Unknown; Date Unknown Jan. 6, 1906 - Jan. 6, 1999 Ethel Mae Kanston, 93, passed away on her birthday, January 6, in Tehachapi. She moved from Lancaster to Tehachapi three years ago. Mrs. Kanston was born to her parents Charles and Cassie Hicks in Aneta, North Dakota on January 6, 1906. Her last place of employment was with The Broadway in Century City, where she was a switchboard operator in the late 1960s. Mrs. Kanston is survived by her son, James C. Overman and his wife, Shirley of Tehachapi; two grandchildren, Stacy Gulick of Tehachapi and Gassy Jo Young of Mojave; three greatgrandchildren, Rebecca, Julie and Ike of Lancaster; two great-great-grandchildren, Kayla and Mason of Lancaster; and a special, dear friend, Pearl French of Lancaster. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the cremation arrangements.
