January 1, 1947 ~ February 19, 2005 Iris, beloved mother and friend to many, departed from us on Saturday, February 19, 2005 to join her parents and three sisters in the house that Jesus built. She touched many lives with her zest for life. She was born in Puerto Rico on January 1, 1947. At the age of 5, she moved to New York City with her family. There, she graduated from Walton High School in the Bronx in 1965. Immediately following graduation she enlisted in the Air Force and served proudly during the Vietnam era. After her tour in the armed forces, she relocated to California and began her family. After seeing her children grow into fine adults, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and then to Apollo Beach, Florida. Though her departure was sudden, the memories of the life she led and the examples she set will bring smiles to all the lives she touched for years to follow. She is survived by two children, Jennifer Anders and Steven Karuntzos; one grandchild, Jacqueline Sylvia M. Anders and eight siblings, Leslie, Fela, Tonia, Luz Maria, Carmen Lydia, Ramon Luis, Elpidio and Facundo. Services will be on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA. Viewing will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a short service at 11 a.m. She will be interred at Irvington Memorial Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in her memory be made to the Lupis Foundation of America, Inc., P.O. Box 631047, Baltimore, Maryland 21263-1047.
