Mountain Messenger 1/22/1888, Pg. 3 OBITUARY KELLIGHANAt Forest City, January 9th, 1888, Margaret Kelleghan, beloved wife of Lawrence Kelleghan, a native of County Monaghan, Ireland, aged 56 years. Deceased was a native of County Monghan, Ireland, and came to America in 62. In the same year she was united in marriage to Lawrence Kelleghan and for 26 years they have journeyed through the pleasures and sorrows of this life together. Their union was blessed with nine children, two sons and seven daughters, eight of whom are now living. They were all with her during her last illness except her eldest son, who is in Alaska. Forest has been her home for the past seven years and during that time she has gained the love and esteem of all who knew her. She was a kind and affectionate wife and mother a good neighbor and a devoted Christian. She had been in poor health for the past three months, but was not confined to her bed until four days before her death. She had contracted a slight cold which resulted in pneumonia . It is needless to say that all that kind neighbors and a loving family could do was done to alleviate her suffering, but human skill could avail nothing. The silver cord was loosed, and The Angel of Death came all unseen, And severed the spirit from that still Clay, The Angel of Love came down Serene, And gently bore her away, ! away ! She was conscious to the last and bade each member of the family good-by, not forgetting her darling boy who was so far away. When the power of speech had failed her a peaceful smile lighted up her wan face, which convinced her loved ones that she was fully prepared to enter her happy home. She was buried from St. Patricks Church, the funeral services being conducted by the Rev. Father Clare. A large concourse of friends followed her remains to their last resting place and mingled their sympathy with that of the bereaved ones. The people of Forest treasure her memory and extend to the sorrowing family their most heartfelt sympathy. May they follow the good example their mother has set before them, so that when the separations of this life are oer, they shall all be reunited around the throne of God. Mother, thou art gone to rest; Thine is an earthly tomb, But Jesus summoned thee away, The Saviour called thee home. Mother, thou hast left us now; Thy toils and cares are oer; Sorrow, pain and suffering Shall neer distress thee more. We know that thou art happy, now, And this our prayer shall be: That when we reach our journeys end Well all be gathered home With thee. A Friend
