C. H. Kinney well known miner and resident of Barstow for more than 20 years passed away at 
the Veteran's Hospital at Sawtelle Oct 20 after a brief illness, with double peneumonia. Mr. 
Kinney was the father of Varnum I. Kinney of Mojave. Funeral services were conducted at the 
Veteran Cemetery with full military honors as the deceased had been a soldier in the Spanish 
American and the Worlds Wars and was a member ot the VFW in Barstow. He was over 40 
when he enlisted in the World War and served in France from the beginning of the war until the 
Armistice was signed. He lived to be 64 years of age.
