Babette B. Koshear Eucharist tomorrow
DOWNEY-A Memorial Eucharist will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, May 9, at St. Mark's 
Church, 10354 Downey Ave., for Babette Brouard Koshear, a longtime Downey resident who died 
May 1 of complications from leukemia. 
She was born Dec. 17, 1926 in Topeka, Kansas, coming to California in 1940 during her high school 
years. She later earned a B.A. in music from UCLA. 
She was active in many local organizations, as well as at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. In her early 
years as a homemaker and mother she was active in the Downey Junior Woman's Club, the PTA, 
Girl Scouts, and the Southeast Concert Chorale. 
She enjoyed performing with the Downey Civic Light Opera Company in numerous musical productions,
 including "My Fair Lady," "Oklahoma," and "The Music Man." In recent years she represented both the 
American Association of University Women and St. Mark's Episcopal Church on the Downey Coordinating 
Council. 
She devoted many hours to serving the parish of St. Mark's Church, teaching Sunday School, singing in 
the choir, and as a lay reader and a lay eucharistic minister, as well as serving as the head of the Altar Guild. 
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, John; her daughters, Kathleen Bennett and Jeannine Koshear; 
a son-in-law, Robert Mijatovich; grandchildren Jeff and Kevin; and sister Frances Socha. 
She was preceded in death by her son, Jon.
