Source Unknown; Date Unknown April 7, 1948 � June 8, 2004 Becky Leach, 56, teacher at Cummings Valley Elementary School for 24 years, died at home on Tuesday, June 8, following a courageous battle with cancer. Becky was born on April 7, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, to Harold and Marilyn Downs Howe. She attended elementary school in Fairborn, Ohio and graduated from Fairborn High School in 1966. She graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky. in 1970 with a degree in elementary education. She taught school in Kentucky, Ohio and California. Becky married Rick Leach on Dec. 23, 1972, in Dayton, Ohio. They, along with stepsons Mike and Tim Leach, resided in the Dayton area for one year before moving to California. After living in the Simi Valley area for almost three years, Becky, Rick and the boys moved into the house they built in Bear Valley Springs. Becky has resided there since that time. Becky is survived by her loving husband, Rick; stepsons, Mike Leach and Tim Leach and wife Thai; her son, Ryan and Jennifer Leach; her daughter, Bethany and Tony Catalde; four grandchildren, Ryan Leach, Jr., Jonathan Leach, Jocelyn Leach and Jaelyn Leach. She is also survived by her loving mother, Marilyn Howe of Dayton, Ohio; brothers, Bruce Howe and Kenny Howe and wife Amy; sisters, Debbie Price and husband Phil, and Denise Peterson and husband Tim; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Becky was an active member of Bear Valley Community Church and was involved in the women's Bible group for many years. Becky was a very loving person. She was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her family and her grandchildren were such a joy to her. She has been a wonderful friend to so many. Becky loved teaching and had a special place in her heart for her "kids." A memorial service to celebrate Becky's life was held at Bear Valley Community Church on Friday, June 11. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Becky Leach "Buster Bear" Scholarship Fund to benefit Becky's former students over the next 11 years. Donations should be taken or sent to the Bank of the Sierra, 21000 Mission St., Tehachapi, CA 93561. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the cremation arrangements.
