Jane Leonard was born to Martin Samson and Ethel Sturdevant Leonard in Ada, Oklahoma on May 25, 1936. She passed away from this life on October 30, 2003, at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She was predeceased by her parents, Martin Samson and Ethel Sturdevant Leonard and a sister, Mona Glee McGuire. She is survived by three brothers, nephews, grand nephews, nieces, grand nieces, cousins and many wonderful friends. "Doc Jane" attended East Central in Ada, Oklahoma, and Indiana State, in Indiana, Pennsylvania. She majored in music with a minor in chemistry. Dr. Leonard worked as a draftsperson for Sandia Corporation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She gained certification as an electro mechanical engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. She changed careers attending Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles, opening up her chiropractic office in Burbank, California. She relocated her office to Rosamond, California in California's Mojave Desert. Besides her practice in Rosamond, she was active in several community organizations. Dr. Leonard's passions were her church, the Harpies, a harmonica quartet she organized, and the Fine Arts Scholarship Fund she established in the Rosamond Women's Club to raise money for high school seniors to further their education in the fine arts. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Rosamond Women's Club Fine Arts Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 597, Rosamond, California, CA 93560. Those donations would be a worthy tribute to Dr. Leonard. Bobby Johns conducted the funeral service at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, on November 11. George Huff will conduct memorial services at the Church of Christ, 37316 100th Street East at Sun Village in Littlerock, California at 2 p.m. on November 16, 2003.
