Lowell, long a resident of Gibsonville, but latterly of Quincy, Plumas Co., was dead. At this writing we are without particulars of his death any more than that he was riding on the timber wagon of the North American mine between La Porte and Gibsonville, the wagon ran off a bridge near Squires saw mill, throwing Mr. Lowell on a pile of rocks, fracturing his hip bone and injuring him internally, from the effects of which he died within a few days. Mr. Lowell was one of the members of the Bald Mountain Co., of Forest City, and an owner in mines at Alleghany and Gibsonville. He was a gentleman very much respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and several children, the eldest being the wife of Judge Clough. A few days before his death he had his life insured for $10,000, it is said.
