James George Magerkurth Published: Wednesday, November 24, 2010 2:26 PM PST Sept. 10, 1941 - Nov. 18, 2010, passed away on Nov. 18 at his home in Big Bear City, Calif. He was born and raised in Moline, Ill., where he and his wife, Barbara, were married in 1967. In 1974, Jim's company transferred him to California where they resided in Anaheim Hills for 30 years. In 1996 they bought a cabin in Big Bear City and in 2004 Jim retired. They had the cabin moved and built a house on the property. Jim worked at the Discovery Center and was a member of the Big Bear Elks lodge and Ham Radio Club. In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his sons, Bradley, his wife Carol, and their son Samuel of Bloomington, Minn. and son Brian, his wife Jennifer, and a new grandchild due in January, of Burbank, Calif. Services are on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at San Antonio Catholic Church in Anaheim Hills, Calif.
