Source Unknown; 24 Feb 1954 Woman Dies In Fall From Plant Slack Eleanor Marshall, 39, formerly of San Bernardino, died Friday night, Feb, 18, at approximately 11:45 when she fell from the stack of the new California Cement Co. 8� miles west of Mojave. According to deputies' John Barrett and Charles Nelson, the victim had been drinking in Mojave' with members of the construction crew working on the huge stacks which are over 100 feet high at the present time. , Rig worker Kenneth Sigler, whose address was given as the Kingston Hotel, Mojave told Deputies he and the dead woman had been driven to the plant site by Melvin Neff, a supervisor. Neff disclaimed any part in the tragedy and said he sat in the car: while Sigler and the woman started to climb up the outside of the stack. Later it was learned they had climbed to a height of 35 to 40 feet. At the Coroner's investigation held Monday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m., a verdict of accidental death was reached. She is survived by her father, Rev. Dr. William John Marshall of Rawlins, Wyoming. O'Donnell Funeral Home shipped the body to Manhattan, Kan., childhood home of the unfortunate victim, for interment.
