THREE DEAD IN AUTO ACCIDENT	
Last Saturday evening a serious accident occurred when two automobiles collided 
headon on the highway east of Inyokern. The cars were driven by Roy Smith, and 
Elmer Kallin, sailor from the Navy Base at Inyokern.
Dead are Roy Smith, 45, Bakersfield, Betty Jo Martin, 16, Inyokern high school 
student, and Jack Griggs, 45, of Whittier.	
Injured were Kallin and his passenger, Pauline McCloskey, 16, of Inyokern; Merle 
Weaver, 40, of Porterville, and Earl Turley, 58, of Phoenix, Ariz., who were riding
with Smith.	
Griggs and Miss Martin were killed instantly and Smith died later at the Navy 
hospital at Inyokern.   The bodies were taken to the O'Donnell Funeral Home in 
Mojave.
