Hargis Elbert McDaniel died as a result of a fire in his hometown of Booneville, KY, 
Aug. 19, 1999. McDaniel was a resident of California City from 1974 through 1982. He was 
retired from the U.S. Air Force and an active member of the American Legion Post #476 and 
VFW Post # 1677. McDaniel is survived by Mary McDaniel. and three children, Kevin Hargis 
McDaniel, Tina Marie McDaniel and Ronald Elbert McDaniel, all residents of California City. 
Military services were held Aug. 16, 1999, at the McDaniel Cemetery, Booneville, KY.
