All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Mojave Desert News; 8 Feb 1996 Vinson Meadows, 89 year old resident of Boron, died in Lancaster on February 2, 1996. Born in Oak Hill, West Virginia, on September 25, 1906, he served in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was also a well known baseball player in his home state of West Virginia. Meadows is survived by his wife lona Doris Meadows of Boron; by his five sons, Russell of Ohio, Frank and Michael of Livermore, Dane of Modesto and John of West Virginia; by his three daughters, Nancy Lewis of Las Vegas, Nevada, Alice Jo Cochran of Maryland and Vicky Napier of Tennessee. He is also mourned by his sister, Kathleen Cook of Vest Virginia and by his three brothers, Lee of Selma, Thurman of West Virginia and James Miller of Oklahoma; and his 33 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday, February 6, 1996 at the Boron Church of Christ with Micky Galloway and Darren Robertson officiating. Interment is at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster under the direction of Stickel Mortuary.
