Born June 27, 1949, to Raymond and Dorothy Mendonca, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the age of 54. He was a lifelong Fremont resident. A graduate of Irvington High School, where he participated in track and field and gymnastics. He had a scene as a walk-on in American Graffiti 2 during the Drag Strip shot done at the Fremont Drag Strip. A fan of NASCAR racing, he enjoyed boat and auto racing and RC boat and car racing. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, building and working on racing boats. A former roofer with A1 Roofing, he was also a member of Model Mariners, a member and boat racer of APBA (American Power Boat Association), a former RC boat racer and a boat mechanic at the Boat Dock. Beloved husband of Darlene Mendonca for 3 years. Devoted father to Rachel Ford of Fremont. Loving brother to Kathleen Alvitre of Fremont, Sandra Rollins of Colorado and Raymond Mendonca of Fremont. Uncle of 6 nieces and 1 nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass Thursday, June 24, 2004, at 9 a.m., at the Mission Church, 43300 Mission Blvd., Fremont. There will be a visitation Wednesday, June 23, at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with a vigil at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at Irvington Memorial Cemetery following Mass.
