Source Unknown; Date Unknown Ronald Castro Meza, Sergeant Major, United States Marine Corps (Ret.) of California City, California, passed away on November 12, 2004 at 12:20 a.m. at Antelope Valley Hospital, Lancaster, California. Sgt. Major Meza, 71, the youngest son of Esteban and Guadalupe Meza was born May 27, 1933 in Brawley, California. Sgt. Major Meza enlisted in the Marine Corp at the age of 17 and served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. While serving in the defense of his country, he received multiple decorations and citations which included two Purple Hearts, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation and numerous other decorations and citations. He is survived by his wife Gloria Meza; his daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Dale Campbell of Oceanside, California, Diane and Robert Lynch of California City, Irene Herrig and Jackie Cain of San Diego, California, Stephanie Meza of Kelseyville, California, Connie and Leonard Carrillo of San Diego, brothers and sisters, Steven Meza of Scottsdale, Arizona, Rosie Alonzo of Modesto, California, Lupe Avila of Turlock, California, and Raymond Meza of El Paso, Texas. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His legacy will live on forever� Our family will rest easier knowing his is reunited with his sister, Jenny Garcia and mother and father. Sgt Major Meza's last words were "Semper Fi." Viewing will be held on Friday, November 19, 2004 from 11 a.m. to noon followed by memorial services at 1 p.m. a the California City Community Church.
