Long-time Mojave resident
DESERT NEWS STAFF REPORT 
MOJAVE - Funeral services were held Tuesday for long-time Mojave resident Wanda L. 
Mierta, who passed away January 16 in Lancaster.
Mrs. Mierta was a housewife, mother, and grandmother who lived in Mojave for 55 
years. She was born August 23, 1941, in Waurika, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Mierta is survived by her husband Richard, son Richard Mierta II, daughters 
Michele Horner, Suzanne Sanchez, and Pamela Armstrong, son-in-law Lorenzo Sanchez, 
daughter-in-law Jennifer Mierta, grandchildren Megan Little, Lindsay Little, Hannah
King, Huner King, Troy Armstrong, Dakota Horner, Drake Mierta, Hope Sanchez, and 
Makena Mierta.
She is also survived by great-grand-daughter Karoline Gonzalez.
Services were held Tuesday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Mojave with interment 
at the Mojave Cemetery.
Her loving smile and love will be greatly missed.
