Source Unknown; 18 Nov 1943 ACCIDENTS CLAIM TWO YOUNG LIVES When his motorcycle hit a bump during the speed trials held Sunday morning at Rosamond Dry Lake, Fenton Clay Grinler, Jr., 21, of 3300 Hyde Pk. Blvd., Los Angeles, received a skull fracture when his body was thrown a distance of 240 feet after the motor had flopped end over end for a distance of 60 feet. Grinler was taken to the Lancaster Community Hospital where he died two hours later. In a similar accident at 9:15 the same morning, Wm W Miller, 26, of 228 East 24th St, Los Angeles was instantly killed . Officer Clark of the California State Highway Patrol investigated the accidents.
