Source Unknown; 12 Aug 1943 Old Time Resident Buried At Tehachapi Culminating an illness of more than three months, in the local hospital, death came on Tuesday of last week to Ed Monroe life-long citizen of this community and vicinity. Mr. Monroe was born at Cameron in 1883 on the farm owned by his parents. Having settled here in the early 70s, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Donald Monroe engaged in the cattle and dairy business and Ed was the only child born of this union. Mr. Monroe married Mrs. Mary Stradal of Mojave and leaves a son, Lieut. Eddie Monroe of the Army Air Force, besides two step-sons, Milton and James Stradal as, well as his widow to mourn his demise. The funeral which was held at the Community Congregational Church on Friday, August 6 ,under the direction of Payne & Son of Bakersfield was attended by a large number of Mojave people who for many years held Mr. Monroe in high esteem. Pallbearers were Rawley Duntley, Will Chapel, Dan Chapel, Earl Phillips, Victor Phillips and Russel Hill, all life-long friends of the deceased. Interrment services at Tehachapi Cemetery were under. the auspices of Mojave I.O. O. F. Lodge No. 457, of which the deceased was a long-time member. NOTE: CADI Monroe, Edward M.
