Source Unknown; 28 Jun 1945 PROMINENT BUSINESS MAN PASSES Profound sorrow overspread the community on Monday when it was learned that Roy Moore, well known businessman of Mojave, had died in the Sawtelle Hospital of a complication from which he has suffered for years. Of a bright and cheery nature, Roy had been an inmate of the Veterans' Hospital for the past four months in an effort 'to recover from the malady. An officer in the U. S. Navy during World War I, Roy was the father of two boys now, themselves serving with the armed forces and of whom he was very proud. Roy was a member of the American Legion, Mojave Post No. 358, a member of the Lancaster Elks Lodge who conducted a Lodge of Sorrow for him on Tuesday night, and a charter member of the Mojave Lions Club. Roy leaves besides his two sons, his former wife who lived in Omaha, his mother now 77, and her mother, 93, of Los Angeles, making up to the time of his death, four generations in the family. The funeral was held in Forest Lawn Park in Glendale yesterday morning attended by a number of Mojave business men who knew him best, accompanied by their wives.
