Dispatch Democrat, 05-01-1935, Pg 1 Lloyd Moran Killed Saturday Afternoon, Youth Meets Death in Accident When Truck Plunges into Canyon Near Dos Rios Lloyd Moran, the 15-year-old grandson of Will Fales, received mortal injuries when the truck in which he was riding went over the grade and fell 100 feet to the bottom of a deep canyon last Saturday afternoon. The accident took place about three miles west of Dos Rios. The deceased was riding with his uncle, George Fales and the latter's young son. The truck stalled and after cranking it several times it made a terrific plunge into the canyon below. George Fales and his son Jumped immediately and were not injured. The Moran boy was rushed to the Howard memorial hospital, Willits, where an examination showed that he had received several injuries, any one of which could have caused his death. He had a fractured skull, broken neck, fractured vertebra, crushed chest, ten broken ribs, and other injuries too numerous to mention. He died a few hours later from an internal hemorrhage. Deputy Coroner Lou Anker held a coroner's investigation and it was decided that it was an unavoidable accident with no one to blame. The funeral services were held at Cleland's funeral home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Elbert Holland officiating, and the remains were laid away in the family plot in the Ukiah cemetery.
