Mountain Messenger � 11/16/1901, Pg. 3 Death of Thomas Morris � Thomas Morris passed away at his home in Forest early Wednesday morning. He has been in failing health for the past two years. Mr. Morris was one of the pioneers of the county. He came to California in the early fifties, and engaged in mining at Morristown. From there he went to Howland Flat, where he remained until his removal to Forest City about thirty years ago. In the death of Thomas Morris the county has lost and honored and respected citizen. He was an industrious, hard-working, upright man, loved by his family and esteemed by his friends. He leaves a wife, four daughters and two sons to mourn his loss. He was born in Ireland about 71 years ago.
