Parsons passed away on May 5, 2004 at home after a long bout with lung cancer. She was one of nine children born in Lebanon, Missouri on May 25, 1918 to Arch and Hallie Henson. She grew up in and around Claremore, Oklahoma, where the family bought a home. Arch was a blacksmith and Hallie a homemaker. Mildred once worked in the shipyards in Washington as a welder during World War II. She then came to Mojave in the early forties where her oldest borther Herb and his wife and daughter were living. She worked as an operator at Bell Telephone Company and retired after 35 years. She met Walter (Deacon) Parsons, who had been in the Army stationed at Edwards AFB, and on July 4, 1948 they were married. They were not only husband and wife, but also the very best of friends. Walter and Millie saved their money and bought property in Mojave and built the house they lived in together until his death on October 26, 2000. Walter and Millie loved the desert and would take in the splendor the desert had to offer. They were walking dictionaries when it came to the history surrounding Mojave. She continued living in the house she and Walter built by herself until her passing. Because of the love and dedication of her nieces and nephews who took care of her during her last days, she was able to pass on in the home that she and Walter so lovingly shared for so many years. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Walter, sisters Lola Davis of Oklahoma, Mary Dicks of Oklahoma, brothers Herbert Henson and Glenn (Rip) Henson of Mojave. Survivors are Thelma (Jody) DeGraffenreid of Boron, Maudie Meingast of Wisconsin, Virginia (Midge) and Ralph Skibba of Wisconsin and James Henson of Paso Robles, California. She had many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews who will miss her absence, but will cherish all the wonderful memories she left them. God be with you in your new home dear sister and aunt. Well miss you tremendously but will remember you so fondly. Per Millies request, there will be no services but you can donate in her memory to Hoffman Hospice, 1832 West Avenue K Suite D1, Lancaster, California 93534.
