Pacific Coast Items � John Pate, at Coldwater, Plumas county, died on 
May 30th, aged 66 years and 7 months. Also two days later, of the death 
of his son, George Pate, at the same place, aged thirty-five years and five 
months. The old gentleman had been for many years been a resident of 
Butte county, and was known to most of the inhabitants of Bidwell Township. 
The young man�s death was occasioned by a severe cold caught while 
swimming his horse across the mountain streams going for medical aid for 
his father.
