Born September 28, 1927 in San Francisco, CA , he was 75 years old and a Fremont resident for 43 years. He was retired from the San Francisco Police Department, former owner of Pacific States Felt & Mfg. Co. and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He enjoyed woodworking, and auto racing and was a former race car owner. He loved to travel and visited all 50 states and their historical sites with his wife Inger. He was a member of Muni Motorcycle Officers of California, and San Francisco Veteran Police Officers Association. Walt was known for his outgoing personality and quick wit. Devoted husband of 55 years to Inger M. Perscheid of Fremont, CA. Loving father of Laura Crawley & husband Jerry of Silver Springs, NV, Linda Friedland & husband David of Santa Barbara, CA and Walter L. Perscheid, Jr. & wife Sharon of Fremont, CA. Dearest brother of Gus Perscheid & wife Noreen of Walnut Creek, CA, sister-in-laws Geraldine Perscheid of Citrus Heights, CA, Karin Baughman of San Bruno, CA, the late Frances Perscheid-Krogh and the late Richard Perscheid. Beloved grandfather of Robert Perscheid, Michael King, Michele Henderson, Amy Hooper, Billy, Lynea, George & Mike Holler, Jessica & Adrianna Freidland, the late Richard L. Perscheid, and great-grandfather of 12. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Family will be receiving guest for a visitation Friday, May 30, 2003 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 -1:00 p.m. at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 31, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary, Burial will follow at Irvington Memorial Cemetery.
