San Diego Union; January 22, 1898 PETTINGELL-In this city, Jan, 20, 1898, Captain Amos Pettingell, aged 66 years, 10 months, 16 days, a native of Newbury Port, Mass. Friends are invited to attend the funeral services at G.A.R. hall, 651 Sixth street, tomorrow, Sunday, at 2 p.m., under the auspices of Heintzelman Post No. 33, G.A.R. San Diego Union; January 21, 1898 DEATH OF CAPT. PETTINGELL Passes Away After an Illness of Long Standing Capt. Amos Pettingell, a well-known and highly-respected citizen, died yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock at his (the rest is not readable) Capt. Pettingell had been a resident of San diego twelve years, and a few years ago occupied the position of street superintendent in this city. He leaves a widow and one son. Capt. Pettingell was a member of Heintzelman Post, G.A.R., and the funeral will be held Sunday under the auspices of the post.
