Carolyn Poole, born January 18, 1923, in Graham, Texas, went to be with our Lord January 6, 1998, in the 
John Wayne Cancer Center, Santa Monica. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Richard 
Poole, two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Terrance Hutchinson of California City, and Gayna and Rob-
ert Flake of Corvallis, Oregon and grandchildren, Vikki Nelson of Brentwood, California, James Akery of 
California City. Kathryn Flake and Kelly Flake of Corvallis, Oregon.
For many years she resided with her husband in Lancaster and she was a partner in several family-owned 
businesses in the Mojave area, including East Kern Stationers, Mojave Realty and Camelot Motel.
She graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 1958 and taught fourth grade in Quartz Hill 
for a time. She was a founder and former director of Christian Way Ministry. She was a published author in 
Christian magazines and books and had a Christian radio program on KB RT in Los Angeles.
Services were held last Saturday, January 10, at Mumaw Funeral Home, Lancaster.
