The Downey Eagle October 17, 1997 Volume 5 Number 34 Services tomorrow for Phillip Hensler Preacher DOWNEY-Memorial services will be heard tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 18) at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 10354 Downey Ave., for Phillip Hensler Preacher, past national president of Spring Air Mattress Company and a longtime Downey resident. He was 73, born in Clarendon County, Texas, May 3, 1924, and died Oct. 9 due to cancer. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and a 47 year member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where he was senior warden, senior usher, and a member of the vestry. He was preceded in death by his wives, Elsie Preacher and Rhea Disrud Preacher. Survivors include his sons, D.H. (Deek) Preacher of Gardena and Jon Preacher of Gavilan Hills; a daughter, Phyllis Black of Downey; brother Dirl Preacher of Placerville; and a sister, Viola Druyor of Buena Park. Private cremation will follow with entombment in St. Mark's Church Memorial Shrine. Arrangements are by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
