Mary W. Proffitt mourned by many
DOWNEY-funeral services will be held today (Friday, Feb. 28) at 1 p.m. at the Miller Mies Mortuary Chapel 
in Downey for Mary W. Proffitt, a 70 year resident of Downey and a nursery school teacher for 20 years 
with the Los Angeles County School District. 
She was 93, a native of Bryson, Texas, and died Feb. 25 at her home in Downey. 
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Downey, and the Woman's Club of Downey. 
Survivors include her son Richard Proffitt of Downey; a sister, Paulie Cambell of Garden Grove; and nieces 
and nephews. 
Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
