Services held for Charles Irvin Raine
DOWNEY-Services were held Sept. 19 at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier for Charles Irvin Raine, 
a Downey resident since 1945 and a former leadman for Douglas Aircraft for 33 years. 
He was 93, born Dec. 6, 1907 in Mills County, Iowa, to parents Fred and Clara Raine, and died Sept. 12. 
He enjoyed his yard, caring for the lemon and avocado trees. He also worked the family farm in Mills 
County, Iowa, and drove the tractors. He drove the riding lawn-mower there two months before he died. 
Survivors include his sons, Donald F. Raine (Janice) of Big Pine, California, Charles E. "Gene" Raine (Jean) 
of Huntington Beach; a daughter, Patricia Ann Clark (Eldon) of Downey; eight grandchildren, and 10 
great-grandchildren. 
He was widowed twice. His wife and mother of his three children Rheba, died in July, 1979. He then 
married Edna who died April 27, 1991. 
Dr. John B. Toay officiated. Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
