Rauterkus DOWNEY-A Funeral Mass will be heard today (Friday, Dec. 13) at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for Alphons J. Rauterkus, a Downey resident for 17 years, who died at his home Dec. 10. He was 84, born in Mapleton, Iowa, and worked as a shipping/receiving foreman for Atlas Galvanizing Co., for 43 years. He was a former resident of Lynwood, and a former member of the Lynwood Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his sons, Ed (Elaine) Rauterkus of Downey, Pete (Linda) Rauterkus of Santa Ana, Mark (Karen) Rauterkus of Wyoming; daughters Mary (Gary) Jacobsem of Wyoming, Anne (Philip) Tourville of Norwalk; brothers Gilbert and LaVerne of Iowa, Silven of Colorado; a sister, Mary Lown of Iowa; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Justine Ann, and son, John. The Reverend Fr. John Moloney, pastor, will be officiant. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
