Ruth Russell Ray was born December 22, 1893 in Mineral Wells, Texas and passed away May 17, 
1997.
A retired secretary for Edwards AFB and a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Historical Society, 
Ruth is survived by sister-in-law Herta Ray, from San Antonio; nephew John Ray and wife 
Cindy, San Antonio, nieces Hertha Ray, Trudy Bishop and husband Bob, and Caroline Watts, all of 
San Antonio.
Other survivors include nieces Peggy From, Moraga, CA; Darla Jean Burns, Bethany, OK; Mamie 
Weger, Colbert, OK; and Judy Lou Sliger, Durant, OK; nephews Fern Wilson, Palmdale; and Charles 
Ray Wilson and William Wilson, of Durant, OK; great-nieces Sheila Ray and Lisa Ray, of San 
Antonio; great-nephews Ryan Bishop, Bradley Watts, and Aaron Watts, of San Antonio; mother 
of great-nieces Sharee Ray, and cousin Pauline Lane, of Springtown, Texas.
Ruth was preceded in death by parents John and Samantha Ray and brothers John, Fred, Leonard, 
Charles, Henry, and William.
Services were held Friday, May 23, at Rosehill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma.
