John S. Rhodes Sr., born on October 18, 1920 in East Hartford, Connecticut, 
peacefully passed away on December 20, 2003 at home in California City, 
California. He was predeceased by his faithful wife of 63 years Arline L. Rhodes 
and his son John Rhodes Jr. He is survived by his brother, Allan and Vera Rhodes 
Jr. of East Hartford; children, Phillip and Eloise Rhodes of Tehachapi, 
California, Walter and Pamala Rhodes of Paso Robles, California, Bronwyn and 
Billy Grimes of Green River, Wyoming, and daughter-in-law Carol Rhodes of 
California City. He was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 22 great-
grandchildren. He will be remembered as a good and loving husband, father, 
grandfather, and brother. 
A memorial service will be held on January 3, 2004, at First Baptist Church in 
California City at 10 a.m.
