	Mrs. J. E. Roberts, 72 Dies After Lingering Illness
Mrs. J. E. Roberts, 72 years old, died yesterday at 9:30 o'clock at her 
home at 1835 South Salem street after an illness extending from June 
1, 1919 when her son, R. E. Roberts, former proprietor of the R. E. 
Roberts Shoe Store was accidently drowned.
	Mrs. Roberts was born in Morgan county, Ill., November 18, 
1849. She has been a resident of Chico for the past five years. Mrs. 
Roberts was an ardent church worker and derived her greatest happiness 
in life by doing kind deeds.
	Funeral services were be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock 
from the Christian church. Rev. Galen Lee Rose will officiate and interment 
will be in Chico cemetery in the same plot where her son is buried.
	Surviving are her husband J. E. Roberts of Chico; a son, J. A. 
Roberts, proprietor of the Bluebird cafe, and three sisters and three brothers 
residing in the east.

Note: I am Sarah's great-granddaughter. I have a picture of her and her 60 
page reflections that began in 1868 when she married. I would like to share 
these items with her other descendants.
