Mojave Desert News; 10 Jul 1947 Fatal Plane Crash at Beecher's Four Corners Sunday Beecher's Four Corners, at the intersection of Highways 466 and 395, came in for its share of excitement last Sunday when a yellow Piper Cub containing two men hit the high voltage line carrying 45,000 volts of electricity about 11 a. m. The plane was following the 466 Hiway headed West and was having motor trouble and losing altitude and speed fast as it came into Four Corners. Tentatively identified as the occupants of the plane were Earl F Rountree, 20, of 211 Sinclair Ave., Glendale and his companion was Chuck West. The owner of the plane, E. I. Clark, 4723 Townsend Ave., said he had rented the craft to the two boys who were friends of his son. For some reason the pilot failed to see the high voltage line and hit it about 450 yards north of Highway 466, where it crosses 395 and crashed in flames approximately 100 yards further west. The bodies of the two boys were taken to O'Donnell's Funeral Home at Barstow. As a result of the crash all eletrictricity was off in Boron, Muroc, Adalanto and Four Corners until about 4:30 p. m. and caused much inconvenience.
