Edward Roe Daily Appeal May 5, 1875, Pg. 3 ( The following items are from the Messenger, May 1st) A young man by the name of Edward Roe was drowned in Boyce Bro.s reservoir, at Scales Diggings, one day last week. As near as we can learn, he went into the water to bathe and was taken with a cramp. There was a small boy with him at the time and he says that he came to the surface only once after he sank the first time and that he only saw his hands. He ran and gave the alarm as soon as possible but it was too late.
