The Downey Eagle July 27, 2001 Volume 9 Number 23 Friends, family mourn Downey's Dick Sandberg DOWNEY-Dick Sandberg, a longtime Downey resident and businessman died July 24. He was born March 24, 1926 and attended Huntington Park High School. He served in the Merchant Marines in World War II, and spent 42 years as a successful State Farm agent. He was well liked by his clientele and colleagues, and enjoyed cards, particularly cribbage. His true passion was golf. His lifetime motto was, "Just gotta wanna." Survivors include his brother, Jay Sandberg; his son, Roark Sandberg; daughters Stacy Sandberg and Janis Sandberg; and granddaughter Marisa Margaretich. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier. The services will be at the Hillside Chapel (enter through Gate 17). A reception will follow.
