The Downey Eagle October 19, 2001 Volume 9 Number 35 Vigil tonight for Jose Luis Sandoval DOWNEY-A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. tonight (Friday, Oct. 19) at the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary Chapel for Jose Luis Sandoval, a 22-year resident of the City of Commerce and a 22-year employee of Myers Containers and Drum for whom he was a production supervisor. He was born Aug. 8, 1945 in Mexico City, Mexico, and died Oct. 16 at his home in the City of Commerce. He emigrated to the United States in 1970. He married Carmen Xochihua, and they celebrated 33 years of marriage Oct. 2. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his pet bird macaw "Cricket". He spent time reading, listening to "oldies" music, and riding in his 1998 Mustang. Survivors include his wife, Carmen of the City of Commerce; parents Benjamin and Jovita Sandoval of the City of Commerce; a son, Alexander Sandoval (Maritza) of Downey; daughters Monica Sandoval of the City of Commerce, Norma Arevalo (Marco) of Downey, and Lizette Sandoval of Downey; a sister, Lilia Alvarez of Mexico City, Mexico; and grandchildren Christopher Sandoval, Marco Arevalo Jr., Matthew Arevalo and Michael Arevalo. A Funeral Mass will be heard Saturday, Oct. 20, at 9 a.m. at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Huntington Park. Arrangements are by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
