Services held for John Raymond Schell
DOWNEY-Services were held Aug. 6 for John Raymond Schell, a resident of Downey for 26 years, 
who died Aug. 1. 
He was 53, born Sept. 11, 1947 in Tremont, Pennsylvania to parents Raymond and Verna Schell. 
He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War as a chaplain's assistant. He was a movie 
theater projectionist for more than 30 years, and enjoyed sports, especially baseball. He collected 
sports and movie memorabilia. 
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta (Cathy); sons Daniel and Thomas; sister Sheila Stahl and her 
two sons Jeff and George of Tremont, Pennsylvania. 
Senior minister Doug Aldridge of Downey First Christian Church officiated over the memorial and 
graveside services. 
Burial was Aug. 7 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside. Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies 
Mortuary of Downey.
