The Downey Eagle February 23, 2001 Volume 9 Number 1 Private services held for Catherann Schrader DOWNEY-Private services have been held for Catherann Schrader, a prominent real estate broker and community leader in the Southeast cities, who died Feb. 18. She was a resident of Downey for more than 35 years. She was born in San Francisco March 3, 1907, and attended UCLA. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. In 1935 she married Herbert Schrader. After a career as a librarian with the Los Angeles City Library she became a real estate broker in Walnut Park and Huntington Park in 1948. She was a longtime member of the Southeast Realty Board and served as president in 1962. She was a charter member and lifetime member of the California State Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors. She was a longtime member and supporter of the Downey Museum of Art, Downey Sister Cities and the Downey Symphony Society. She was the only living charter member of the Southeast Chapter of Quote International. The organization recognized her with a gala on her 90th birthday. Shortly before her death she was notified that she was to be honored this year at their International Convention for her years of service. Survivors include her sister, Ivora Marlyn Olson of Downey; and her niece, Meredith Ann Jacobson of Glendale. Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
