Longtime Mojave resident Susan "Sue" Lee Shepherd left this Earth to be with the Lord on April 21, 2001 after a courageous battle against failing health. Sue passed away at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California. She was surrounded by those who loved her in her final days. Sue was born July 10, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the beloved wife and constant companion of Karl "Pat" Shepherd for more than 20 years. The couple was married on December 16, 1980 at Canyon Country Foursquare Church, Canyon Country, California. Sue was a devoted mother to her two sons, Randy Hill of Stockton, Calif, and Jamie Hill of Lancaster, Calif. She adored her grandchildren Dylan Hill and Austin Hill and their mothers, Anjie Hill, wife of Jamie and mother of Dylan; and Austin's mother, Mariah Eppihimer of Glendale, Arizona. Sue is also survived by her mother, Evelyn Metz of Leona Valley, Calif.; her brother Richard Metz and his wife Vivian, also of Leona Valley and her very close friend Teresa Hoffman and her two children, Cheyanne and Dennis, whom she loved as her own child and grandchildren. She also leaves behind brothers-in-law Steve and Brad Shepherd and their families, of Honda; Greg Shepherd and his family of Saugus, Calif, and Jeff Shepherd and his family of Palm Springs, Calif.; also her mother-in-law Peggy (Shepherd) Miller and her husband Bud of Apple Valley, Calif. Sue's father, Ralph Metz preceded her in death. Family and friends will remember Sue as a compassionate and generous person, with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor and a heart full of love. Sue will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held on May 4 at 12 p.m. at the Mojave Crossroads Foursquare Church, 16518 Holt Street, Mojave.
