All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Don Showens, Boron resident, passed away of an apparent heart attack in his home on September 3, 1997. He is survived by his mother, who lives in Iowa; sisters Evelyn and Mary of Arizona, Ella and Lois both of Iowa; brothers Daryl, Arthur, Robert and Larry all of Iowa and by several nieces and nephews. Don served in the U.S. Army, then he went to Canada where he studied to become a minister. He left Canada and went to Los Angeles and worked in retail business for several years, then decided to move to Boron where he lived for several years. Don was an elder in the Boron Bible Church, and he also taught Children' s Bible Class. He was employed by the Muroc School District in Boron High School sports program at the time of his death. Services were held in the Boron Bible Church on September 9, 1997 with Pastors Jim Schmidt and Richard Seymour officiating.
