PASSES AWAY Charles Irvin Smith, Supt. of Monolith Portland Cement Plant for the past two years passed away in Los Angeles on August 15. Services under the direction of the O'Donnell Funeral Home were held in Tehachapi on Wed. Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. Mr. Smith has been employed by Monolith since 1933, starting as assistant chemist and advancing until he became Supt. in Nov. 1951. He was a member of F. & A. M. Masonic Lodge of Brigham City, Utah. Tehachapi Lodge No. 313, F. & A. M. was in charge of services. He was interred in 'the Tehachapi Eastside Cemetery. Survivors include besides his widow, Mrs. Evelyn Smith, Monolith, two daughters, Mrs. Barbara L Markey, Lancaster and Mrs. Joan Ranick, San Diego, and a son, Dave Sniith of Encino.
