SMITH on December 20, 1880, wife of E. H. Smith, Esq., died at San Luis Obispo in the ninety-third year of her age. Mrs. Smith for the last thirty-three years of her life was an invalid, and totally deprived of the power of walking. During this time she crossed the plains in an ox-wagon, accompanying her husband and their four children, remaining during the winter of 1852 in that region where the town of Gold Hill, Nevada, now stands. In 1868 she found a permanent home in San Luis Obispo.
