The Downey Eagle January 12, 2001 Volume 8 Number 47 Services held for Juan Manuel Soltero DOWNEY-A Mass will be heard today (Friday, Jan. 12) at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for Juan Manuel Soltero. Vigil services were held Thursday, Jan. 11, at Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary. Soltero, a resident of Downey for two years, was a machinist for Waste King involved in appliance manufacture for 25 years. He was previously a resident of South Gate, a Peruvian horse trainer, soccer player, and a soccer trainer for the FIFA. He was 71, born in Trujillo, Peru, to parents Ricardo Soltero and Marina Gamarra Soltero, and died Jan. 8 at Lakewood Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Maria Soltero; his son, Ricardo Soltero; a brother, Ruben; sisters Maria, Marina, Jacoba, and Victoria. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cypress Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
