All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Daily Press; 2/22/2008 William "Bill" Soper, 65, passed away Feb. 15, 2008, at his home in Spring Valley Lake. Bill was born Nov. 16, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minn. He came to California with his parents. He attended Van Nuys High School. Upon graduation, he served two years in the U.S. Navy. After he was discharged he worked for Pacific Bell in Beverly Hills. After several years, he moved to Lancaster where he worked for GTE and served as vice president of the Local 9586 Communications Workers of America. Bill retired in 1996 after 27 years of service. In 2000, Bill and his wife moved to Spring Valley Lake where they have been members of Jess Ranch Community Church. Bill was an avid golfer who brightened people's days with his wonderful sense of humor. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, son, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Kay Soper; his mother, Jean Childers; his son, Will; daughter, Dawn; grandson, Forrest; granddaughter, Madison of Lancaster; his Aunt Marilyn Allen of Glendale, Ariz; and many cousins. Bill's love and humor will be missed. A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Jess Ranch Community Church, 11537 Apple Valley Road, Apple Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
