Tehachapi News; Dec 02, 1998 Funeral services were held Saturday, November 28 at Weeks' Enumclaw Funeral Home for Ruth Sparling, 87, who passed away on November 23 in Renton, Washington. Ruth was born in Sutton, Ontario, Canada on April 16, 1911. She lived in Tehachapi for 10 years before moving to Puyallup, Washington in 1979. Ruth was involved with the Assembly of God Church in Tehachapi where she served as a pianist and sang in the choir. She was also involved in the Women's Ministries. In 1932 and again in 1934, Ruth was crowned Miss Canada in a pageant for Canadian women living in California. Ruth is survived by her sons Roy Sparling and his wife Barbara of Phoenix, Arizona and Stephen Sparling of Centralia, Washington, daughter Jeri Lynn Mangus and her husband Bruce of Kent, Washington, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Burial was at the Tehachapi District Cemetery, handled by Weeks' Enumclaw Funeral Home.
