Mary O. Rarick Stewart, remembered by many
DOWNEY-Mary O. Rarick Stewart, a resident of Downey for 68 years, died Feb. 3. 
She was born in Oklahoma in 1911, and graduated from Panhandle A & M College to become a teacher 
in a one-room schoolhouse. She married her college sweetheart, G. Jack Stewart. 
She was active in her community, performing in theater productions throughout Los Angeles County. 
She was a member of the Downey United Methodist Church and was a lifetime student attending CSU-
Long Beach well into her 80s. 
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, G. Jack Stewart of Downey; her children Ben and Jan Stewart 
of Garden Grove, Suzanne and John Pohlman of Escondido, Jacklen and Vincent Campolongo of Yorba 
Linda and Marylen and Jim Long of Downey; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
