Source Unknown; Date Unknown Survived torpedoing by Germans in World War II BY BILL DEAVER BAKERSFIELD � Former Mojave resident Enoch Strahan passed away Monday in Bakersfield from a lengthy illness. Strahan was born June 12, 1922, in Poplarville, Mississippi. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II and survived being on two ships torpedoed by German submarines. He worked as a painter and carpenter following the war, and was employed at the county building in Mojave for several years. To all who knew him, Enoch Strahan had a wide variety of skills and experiences, all enlivened by a well-developed sense of humor. Mr. Strahan is survived by his wife Rachel, brothers Steve, Don, Lamont, and Dale Strahan, sisters Dessie Mae Watson and Sally Bruce. He is also survived by daughter Denise Crenshaw and sons Wiley, Kelly, and Mark Strahan, 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Private services are pending.
